First, I want to say that I’m glad you’ve stopped by. With only a small bit of looking around, you are probably asking the question, “What exactly is simple church?”
To put is simply (see what I did, there?), simple church is the Body of Christ expressed in it’s most basic form. Buildings, programs and structures are not our style. Relationships, community, and closeness are the fabric of our groups. We don’t have a building, we don’t have bulletins and our gathering times aren’t what you would find in a more traditional, structured church. For better or worse, we tend to keep things much simpler.
First off, our gatherings are a bit longer that a church service. Usually, 3-4 hours are carved out each week to spend together. We eat together, talk together, and generally enjoy one another’s company. This is typically followed by some biblically-based discussion, communion, and prayer. In the course of a normal week, those in a simple church will meet at least one other time with 1 or 2 others in a microgroup that focuses on Bible reading, accountability, and prayer. We believe that each person in our church is capable of sharing and is worth hearing. We believe that transformation happens in the context of community where Jesus is lifted up, proclaimed as Lord, and given reign over our time together.
That means everyone gets involved.
Our church is made up of a network of simple churches in the Hardin County area…and that number of churches is truly limitless as time moves forward. As you are reading this, there is truly no telling how large the network may be! As a group grows by virtue of new families coming to Christ, we simply multiply and begin new simple churches to accommodate. This encourages each individual to be responsible for the growth of Jesus’ church here locally.
It breeds new leaders.
It reaches deep into people’s lives.
It is transformative.
Simple Church is the way we understand to spread the Gospel of Jesus in the most effective and impacting way. Interested? There is much more, but I’d much rather talk to you about it! Click that contact link above and we’ll be in touch really soon!
